Connecticut House Bill 6607, which took effect October 1, 2021, incentivizes Connecticut-based small businesses to voluntarily meet cybersecurity standards. In the event of a data breach, these businesses receive protections from punitive damages.
GuardSight, Inc. CEO, John McGloughlin, gave written testimony in support of this legislation. “HB 6607 provides a positive way of protecting information rather than imposing fines on businesses.”
We hope more states recognize HB 6607 as a model to encourage improved cyber hygiene and posture among small businesses, reduce vulnerability to attack, and better protect assets and consumer data.
